Todd M. Kopczynski, MD
Todd Kopczynski, MD, has practiced medicine for more than two decades. "I became a doctor because I was always fascinated with human biology, ever since my first biology class," he recalled.
After a professional baseball career with the Texas Rangers, Dr. Kopczynski put that love of biology to work. "Once in medical school, I chose obstetrics and gynecology as my specialty because I equally enjoyed both medicine and surgery, and this field offered the perfect combination of the two," he said. "I am able to perform various surgeries and procedures, and I get to know my patients through all stages of life. I feel so priveleged to participate in the miracle of birth. I can think of no better reason to be called to the hospital in the middle of night than to bring a new life into the world."
In addition to delivering babies, Dr. Kopczynski has a special interest in in-office procedures including tubal sterilization, endometrial ablation and other hysteroscopic procedures. "Doing more procedures in-office instead of the hospital has saved my patients thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses."
Outside of work, Dr. Kopczynski enjoys spending time with his three daughters and one son, as well as staying active. "I enjoy running and competing in triathlons," he said. "I'm also an avid Tarheel fan and I enjoy watching UNC sports. But, I'll still accept patients who are 'Dookies!'"
